Every calendar year the deductible starts over. In other words, beginning January 1 of each year, you pay the first $300 (for active employees) in covered services, then the Plan will begin paying benefits.
Here’s how the deductible works for families:
- When one family member meets the $300/ person deductible, the Plan begins paying benefits for that person.
- When the family has paid a combined total of $900 (for active employees) toward deductibles, the Plan begins paying benefits for all family members, even if each person in the family hasn’t paid the per-person deductible.
Did you know? You do not need to pay the deductible before the Medical Plan pays benefits for these services:
- USPSTF-recommended preventive care services
- Physical, occupational, speech or audiological therapy
- Acupuncture and chiropractic care
- Outpatient mental health services
- Hearing aids
- Durable medical equipment
- Ambulance transportation
- Hospice services
- Home infusion therapy
